Results 10/6/13

Kenny Jones has won the first competition he has entered. In the final of the Handicap Cup he defeated Colin Day 7-5. Jones started with a seven goal advantage but Day couldn’t make up the difference. Day, of course, dominated the match but probably didn’t create enough clear-cut chances. Perhaps if he had played at a faster pace he might have had more success. Jones, however, had some good possession and had an excellent chance which he put wide of the post. Congratulations to Jones, winner of the first cup competition this season.

Two league matches were also played. Ronnie McKenzie drew 0-0 with Dave Gladman, then lost 1-2 to Colin Day. This result means that Day will finish third in the league pushing Willie Fleming into fourth.

Results 13/5/13

Only four competitive matches were played. Dave Houston exited two cup competitions. He couldn’t  make up the deficit in the Handicap Cup against Kenny Jones, going down 6-4. Jones goes into the final of his first competition where he will play Colin Day. Houston lost narrowly by 1-0 in the Glasgow Cup semi-final against Dave Butler. Butler will now play Tom Burns in that final. In the league Ronnie McKenzie gained four points in two games to move two places up the league to sixth.

Only 2 competitive matches were played and both involved Willie Fleming. Unfortunately for Fleming they resulted in him exiting 2 cup competitions. In the Association Cup he lost, perhaps unluckily, to Dave Butler by 2-1 and in the Handicap Cup semi-final Colin Day edged out Fleming 1-0.

Dave Butler has retained the Glasgow League Championship. A 5-0 defeat of Colin Berry puts Butler one point ahead of Tom Burns. Burns has completed all his matches whilst Butler still has two to play. Butler led 1-0 at half-time and a goal straight from the re-start put the game beyond Berry. Butler also progressed in the Association Cup with a 2-0 victory in their replayed match. Butler wasn’t so lucky in the Handicap Cup losing 9-7 to Kenny Jones. Jones, of course, had a nine goal start. Also in the Handicap Cup, Colin Day had a 2-1 win over Colin Berry and Tom Burns lost to Barry Corr 4-3 on shots after a 5-5 draw. The semi-final draw for the Handicap Cup was made:

Only one league match was played. Baver Bari continued his good form by recording his first league win, defeating Dave Houston 1-0. Tom Burns reached the final of the Glasgow Cup by defeating Willie Fleming in a replayed match. Neither player was able to find the net in a match not without controversial incidents. This included Fleming picking up one of Burns’ figures in the Fleming penalty box, thinking the figure was his spare goalkeeper. The referee awarded a free-kick to Fleming, judging that Burns had flicked the figure against Fleming’s hand. Burns was of the opinion that the player had stopped before there was any contact with the Fleming hand. Five minutes of extra-time were goal-less. Burns triumphed by 2-1 in the resulting shoot-out. Burns also moved into the next round of the Association Cup with a 4-0 victory over Gladman, also a replay. The game was over by half-time as Burns built up a commanding 3-0 lead. Also in the Association Cup Colin Day and Dave Butler played out a 0-0 draw.
